Lip Lifting
The white part of the upper lip loses its fullness with age and grows from top to bottom. This condition where the white part of the upper lip is long may also occur in young women. The ideal distance between the nose and the upper lip in women is 12 to 14 mm. This distance can increase up to 3 mm every 10 years with aging. Although this is the ideal length, it is not sufficient for a definitive surgery decision. It is decided together with other proportions and features of the person's face.
Recently, dermal filler applications are frequently performed to highlight the red lip area and add volume. However, since their effects are short-term, patients prefer more permanent procedures. For this reason, we perform lip lift aesthetic procedure in adults of all ages to reveal more of the red part of the upper lip and create fuller, proportionate and younger-looking lips.
This surgical procedure can be performed under clinical conditions with local (regional) anesthesia, depending on the patient's preference, or in a hospital environment with intravenous sedation or general anesthesia. The patient can go home the day of surgery. The duration of the procedure is approximately 1 hour. The incision is made to hide the nose at the junction of the upper lip. A lip lift is performed to the extent that your front incisors appear sufficient for an aesthetic smile, and the upper lip is fixed in its new ideal place with stitches. Stitches are removed after 7 days. After the procedure, there will be moderate edema, swelling and redness for 3 days, which can be reduced with cold compresses and medications. Since the incision due to this surgery will be closed meticulously and carefully, an inconspicuous scar will remain. Over time, this scar can fade and be camouflaged with make-up.
