Forehead Lifting
In people with a straight forehead contour, the nose will appear longer than it actually is. On the contrary, the nose will appear short in people with a convex and protruding forehead. In addition, when upper eyelid blepharoplasty are performed on people with drooping eyebrows, an aesthetically satisfactory result cannot be obtained for the patient. In such patients, it would be correct to first eliminate the sagging in the forehead and therefore the eyebrows and then consider eyelid aesthetics.
We perform forehead lift procedures to correct sagging skin and soft tissues on the forehead, eyebrows, and to tighten skin folds. While in previous years, classical forehead lift surgeries were performed with incisions made at the scalp border, endoscopic forehead lift surgeries with more limited incisions have gained popularity with the use of endoscopes in this area. In classical forehead lift, since a long incision is made from one side of the temple to the other, the sequelae of the surgery and the side effects in the postoperative period are more. In endoscopic forehead lift, the incision is made through 3 small incisions through the scalp and is performed non-invasively by visualizing with the help of endoscopes inserted through these incisions, so the sequelae related to the surgery are minimal. It is more comfortable in the post-operative period. We can apply the endoscopic technique even on people who do not have hair.
With a surgery lasting 2-3 hours under sedation or general anesthesia, forehead and eyebrow sagging is eliminated and the tissues hanging upward are fixed in their new places. In these surgeries, which require a 1-night hospital stay, the stitches are placed aesthetically and there are no problems such as hair loss or loss of sensation in the forehead. To prevent swelling, it is recommended to apply ice intermittently and lie down with your head up. Most patients can return to their normal activities within seven days and it can be performed in conjunction with other aesthetic procedures. It may take a few weeks for the swelling in the area to subside. The results of the surgery are permanent and long-lasting. Afterwards, the person feels happier, more beautiful and more self-confident with this new facial expression.
