Fat Injections to Face
They are nasolabial fat pads that do not melt from the superficial fat layers. The accumulation here causes the nasolabial fold, which is the first thing that stands out to all of us as we get older, to become more prominent. On the other hand, as the amount of fat in the deep plane loses volume, it causes the overlying tissue to collapse inwards and folds and cavities become evident.
Fat applications to the face emerged with the idea that we can fill this loss of volume in our face with the fat tissue accumulated in other parts of our body. Fat tissue, which is mostly taken from the belly area through a process called "liposuction", is removed with cannulas of various thicknesses. Then, it is injected with cannulas in various amounts and consistency according to the needs of the areas on our face that create volume deficiency, folds, grooves and wrinkles. This procedure, performed under sedation or general anesthesia, takes approximately 2 hours, depending on the size of the area to be treated. It can be done together with other aesthetic procedures. The areas where fat will be injected are determined in advance, with the patient in a sitting position. Existing skin folds are targeted to prevent the incisions where the fat injection cannulas will enter from being visible. Once the fat is injected into its new location, it needs 5-7 days to start feeding from there. After the procedure, a sterile bandage is applied to the person's face to keep the fat tissue in place. It makes it easier for the patient to lie down for 1 day after the surgery to take painkillers and antibiotics. We recommend that the patient lie flat on his back in bed.
Bathing is allowed 3 weeks after the application and swimming is allowed 4 weeks later. We do not recommend using a corset on the face. After fat injection, approximately 20-30% fat loss will occur, depending on the technique used and the response of the patient's tissues. Taking this into account, it is recommended to give a little more. If retouching is necessary, we recommend that it be planned for approximately 1 year after the procedure.
Side effects of the procedure are; We can mention swelling, redness, itching, bruising, infection, skin peeling, skin loss, excess fat injection, fat cysts, color changes and contour irregularities. It is also possible that the injected fat tissue may melt or grow well in the applied area, resulting in asymmetric development. Patients should be informed about these undesirable situations. Apart from all these, the more important side effects related to fat injection application are; In addition to persistent widespread fatty tissue infections and severe infections that can spread throughout the body, organ loss and death have been reported, although very rarely, as a result of fat particles blocking the vessels leading to important organs and tissues.
