I graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1987. In the same year, I began my specialization in Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose, and Throat - ENT) at Istanbul Beyoğlu Training Hospital after passing the first Medical Specialty Examination held that year, and I became a specialist in Otolaryngology in 1991. During my specialization, I worked as a visiting fellow with Consultant ENT Surgeon A. Richard Maw at Bristol General Hospital, Bristol Royal Infirmary, and Bristol Royal Hospital for Children. After completing my military service as an ENT specialist at Denizli Military Hospital in 1992, I worked as an ENT specialist first at Şırnak State Hospital in 1993, then at Tatvan State Hospital in 1994 to fulfill my Mandatory Service Obligation. In 1995, I was transferred to Kartal Training and Research Hospital, where I worked as an ENT specialist until 1996, and then as Chief Assistant of the ENT Clinic after passing the exam. Later, I was appointed as Deputy Chief of the 2nd ENT Clinic in the central exam opened by the Ministry of Health in the same hospital in 2001. In 2011, I obtained the title of Associate Professor by taking the oral exam organized by the Inter-University Board (ÜAK), which is very valuable to me, at the school where I graduated. In 2012, I obtained my second specialization in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from the Medical Specialization Board (TUK). While working as an Education Assistant at Dr. Lütfi Kırdar Training and Research Hospital from 2012, I was appointed as an Associate Professor at the University of Health Sciences in 2017. During this time, I also served as both the Education and Administrative Officer of the ENT clinic at Dr. Lütfi Kırdar Kartal Training and Research Hospital.
In 2017, I had the opportunity to observe as a visiting fellow under the direction of Professor Dr. Tom D. Wang at the Oregon Health Science University (OHSU) Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Clinic in Portland, USA, where I also had the chance to observe surgeries performed by both Professor Dr. Tom D. Wang and Dr. Michael Kim. Since 2018, I have been working as a Professor at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine, Department of Surgical Medical Sciences, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. I am currently continuing my active teaching and educational activities as the Head of the Department. Throughout my 37-year career in education and training, I have contributed to the training of numerous ENT specialists across Turkey, some of whom have become Associate Professors and Professors and continue to train ENT assistants in their respective hospitals. Furthermore, I have utilized the clinical knowledge, experience, and surgical expertise I have gained since my residency for the benefit of my patients.
